I have been reading Rolling Stone since I can remember. I am a musician so any news or articles on music are of interest to me. The articles are well written. I have enjoyed reading Rolling Stone Magazine for many years. Although it does an excellent job of keeping me up-to-date on the performers and groups on the music scene, the magazine delivers much more. Its critical in-depth analyses of the music business can’t be duplicated. These are not ‘puff’ articles. The writers are not afraid to shine light into dark places and the magazine doesn’t seem to live in fear of offending its advertisers. Most especially, I like the quality of the writing – these people could write about anything and make it interesting. A final note – I even like the adds.

When you think Rolling Stone, you think music. The focus certainly IS on music, but Rolling Stone magazine also touches on other pop culture happenings, TV, video games, movies, etc., and current events. While Rolling Stone gives popular music its due (you've always heard of everybody who graces the cover), they really put the emphasis on exposing you to what else is out there; they feel it is their duty to take you beyond the top forty, the stuff you hear on your way to work every day.

Rolling Stone magazine provides interesting reading about events and people from all walks of life. Many of the articles are lengthy enough for the person or topic to be discussed in-depth. The music reviews are a good read and expose me to musicians and groups I otherwise might not know about. While music stations play the same song and no one knows who's hot or not, you can rely on Rolling Stone magazine to cover the whole spectrum of entertainment. While you agree with the reviews of new CDs, films or re-issues, it is still a valuable addition to what you need to know on the US music scene today. Peter Travis's movie reviews are also honest and not the least self-indulgent, so you can almost always rely on his opinion, even if you want to see something to check if it really is that bad.
